Ryan Schroeder... continued

Ryan (he/him) takes a person-centred, trauma-informed, and affirming approach that honours the many facets of his clients’ identities (like culture, race, neurotype, (dis)ability, gender, sexual orientation, etc.).

As an adult with ADHD and a parent of two neurodivergent children, Ryan appreciates the unique obstacles faced by folks who struggle to conform to ableist behavioural expectations. He opens non-judgmental space for all clients to process their inner lives while also exploring practical strategies for engaging with the world.

Before entering the mental health field, Ryan earned a PhD in Religious Studies at the University of British Columbia, where he has taught courses on the history of religion. He also knows firsthand what it is like to live within and leave a fundamentalist tradition, and he supports clients as they deconstruct unhelpful beliefs and behaviours, identify core values and delights, and set about (re)claiming personal autonomy and meaning.

These days, Ryan revels in good graphic novels and in watching the sky shape-shift over Treaty 7 territory.
