As a psychologist, Jaqueline provides general assessment and therapy for young clients and their families. More specifically, her work involves supporting children, teens, young adults and parents navigating cognitive and developmental concerns, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, neurodivergence, chronic illness, transition to adulthood, identity development, gender exploration, academic concerns and parent-child relationships.
Jaqueline’s practice is collaborative and guided primarily by the Family Systems approach, where clients are encouraged to find a healthy balance between their autonomy as an individual, and their role within their family unit. Whenever possible, parents and family members are invited and encouraged to participate in the therapeutic process, individually or as a family. In addition to Family Systems, Jaqueline also incorporates other evidenced-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, and Brain Spotting.
With a passion for mental health, Jaqueline has dedicated the past 19+ years working in the field, a journey that started in Toronto at the Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in 2005 and continues today with the Calgary Therapy Institute. Jaqueline has also served Calgary’s local community through the Calgary Distress Centre, Providence, Children’s Cottage Society, Wood’s Homes, Alberta Health Services, and various shelters and schools.
While Canada has been home for over 25 years, Jaqueline is originally from Brazil and brings her cultural sensitivity and skills into her practice. She is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish, and would gladly assist individuals and families from all backgrounds navigate cross cultural issues as they arise.
In her personal life, Jaqueline enjoys time with family and friends, cooking and baking or out and about experiencing the local cafes, restaurants, parks, artists and festivals. She is also someone who is very spiritual, loves people, travelling and nature, all things she continuously explores and continues to be inspired by!
