Faith Comeau ...continued

Faith-Headshot.jpg

Faith’s undergraduate and master’s theses both focused on childhood populations, within the context of neurocognitive health and reading skill development. Throughout her studies, Faith excelled in various positions such as Lead Teaching Assistant, Guest Lecturer, and Literacy Laboratory Manager, receiving several awards for her achievements in teaching, leadership, and research.

Her passion for working with children also led her to take on roles as a preschool teacher, nanny, and volunteer. In these positions, she supported young people with intellectual, learning, and mental health challenges, showcasing her commitment to their growth and development throughout her educational career.

Upon completing her Master’s degree, Faith worked as a School Psychologist (Candidate Register) in Nova Scotia's public-school system. In this role, she provided support to school teams, parents, and students through psychoeducational assessments, behavior management planning, counseling, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed professional development.

In the private practice setting, Faith employs a Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic (CBT) approach to her counseling work. She helps children and adolescents build effective coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and healthier thought patterns to manage challenges such as anxiety, depression, and behavioral difficulties. Faith works closely with parents to create consistent, supportive environments that reinforce the therapeutic goals established during counseling. Beyond CBT, she provides specialized support for individuals with ADHD and ASD, concentrating on enhancing executive functioning and social skills.

Faith believes in the power of evidence-based interventions, trusting relationships, and supports which allow for children and teens to reach their potential and experience success.
